But Israel threatens retaliation if U.N. approves Palestinian state

TEL AVIV – A top Palestinian Authority negotiator told WND that the Obama administration won’t stand in the way of a Palestinian threat to unilaterally ask the United Nations to recognize a Palestinian state outside of negotiations with Israel.
Despite widespread assumptions the U.S. would veto any such U.N. Security Council resolution, the PA negotiator said that in initial discussions, the Obama administration did not threaten to veto their conceptual unilateral resolution.
“The U.S. told us that they prefer a negotiated settlement with Israel, but if we (Palestinians) insist on a resolution, the Americans will not necessarily reject it,” the PA negotiator said.
“The U.S. has a history of never before vetoing any UN move to create a new state,” the negotiator pointed out.
Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said yesterday the Palestinians had decided to turn to the U.N. Security Council to unilaterally declare a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip, West Bank and eastern Jerusalem.
Separately, the negotiator, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that the Obama administration is “totally on board” with a plan by Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad to create a state on the pre-1967 borders within two years.
WND first reported in September that according to a top PA official, the Obama administration has largely adopted the positions of the Palestinian West Bank leadership to create a Palestinian state within two years based on the pre-1967 borders, meaning Israel would retreat from most of the West Bank and eastern sections of Jerusalem.
The PA negotiator WND spoke with yesterday said that his authority’s primary goal now is to secure a letter of support from the Obama administration affirming the U.S. commitment to a pre-1967 Palestinian state within two years.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday hit back at the PA plan to unilaterally declare a state, warning such a move will be met by “one-sided Israeli measures.” He did not elaborate.
“There is no substitute for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority and any unilateral attempts outside that framework will unravel the existing agreements between us and could entail unilateral steps by Israel,” Netanyahu told a high-level gathering of Israeli and American policy makers at the Saban Forum in Jerusalem.
Netanyahu stressed that in order to achieve peace, “negotiations must resume immediately.” He affirmed Israel was prepared to begin talks “with a generous spirit.”
“I want to stress that we are willing to take steps that will help in advancing the peace process, but it must begin, there is no reason to waste time,” said the Israeli leader.
While negotiations were not easy, Netanyahu said, “there is no other way to bring about change.”
In September, a senior PA official told WND that aside from supporting a Palestinian state in the pre-1967 borders, the Obama administration also had accepted the PA position that Israeli-Palestinian negotiations begin where they left off under Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who went further than previous Israeli leaders in his concessions to the Palestinians.
Olmert reportedly offered the PA not only 95 percent of the West Bank and peripheral eastern Jerusalem neighborhoods but also other territories never before offered by any Israeli leader, including parts of the Israeli Negev desert bordering Gaza as well as sections of the Jordan Valley.
“We understand from the U.S. that the Netanyahu government is not in a position to go against creating a state within two years,” the PA official said.
The official claimed the Obama administration was ready to ultimately consider “sanctions” against Israel if the Netanyahu government rejected negotiations leading to a Palestinian state. The official refused to clarify which sanctions he was referring to or whether he was specifically told by the U.S. government it would consider sanctions.

In this instance I do support Obama, illegitimate though he be. Israel has virtually enslaved the Palestinians and has continuously been grabbing Palestinian land for the past half-century. It is entirely misleading to headline this report as “Arab land grab.” The reverse is true.
The Muslim war against America might continue even after Palestine is a recognized independent state (not the slave state Israel has in mind), but jihad will have lost most of its steam if the Palestininians are freed from their downtrodden, ghettoized condition.
If we are ever to deflate the urgency behind jihad, Obama’s way is the way to do it. This was also G.W. Bush’s way and Bill Clinton’s way, but the Israelis always defeated the best efforts of the United States because Israel seeks ever-greater territory and perpetual domination over the people they have displaced. Time to reign in Israel’s own religious fanatics and spare ourselves more 9-11s. It is we who pay for Israel’s boundless ambitions.

I seriously as a Christian have to disagree with your assessment as it is very contrary with God’s word. You base your opinion on the actions of Cinton, Bush and Obama. Let me remind you that I and most Christians have never witnessed any Fruit bore by these people as they sure never showed themself to be Christia. I know Barry isa Muslim, Bush fianlly admitted 2 weeks before leaving office that he wasn’t, and I believe even the newest convert to Christianity would understand that Bill Clinton wasn’t a Christian.

The Palestanian’s are a remnant of the Ottoman empire from Turkey. They migrated and settled into Jordon where Jordan, an Arab Nation, would not allow them to settle among their towns but made then live in the outskirts in desert dwellings. No other Arab Nation would accept them including, Syria, Egypt, Iran or Iraq. Only Israel allowed them to settle there among their people.
I want to remind you that Israel is the ONLY nation God breathed into existence either as a people or a Nation. All other countries upon the earth were taken by conflict.God made a covenant with Israel that Israel would be Their land forever.As a Christian, we know God always keeps his covenants.

Israel did not steal any land. The Arabs are the squatters. Israel should kick all of the Arabs out, period. That would be the better solution.

Thanks for your Bibical affirmation. The world has been deceived and fed a lie over many years. That is why it is so important for we Christians to read and discern the True Word Of God so we can rebuke all worldliness of the lost and sinful world.
Even if Israel would cede all of their land tomorrow, Which will never happen Due to Gods’ word, the Palestinians and Arab world will never be friends to the Jews, as light and darkness can never co-exist.. They despise The Jews because they are Gods’ chosen people.We are told this throughout the Bible.
The intent of the Arabs and palestines’ is to destroy the Jews period.
Another myth that the non Christians keep putting out is that it is the Israels that don’t want peace with the Arabs. What utter hogwash. These same people omit the facts that Israel was invaded by her Arab Neighbors in 1967 and 1973. Israel conquered some land during that invasion by war, which much of it has been returned for what reason I will never understand. No other Nation in History has ever been told they had to give up territory gained by war except for ISRAEL! Israel can’t afford to cede any more territory as Israel is very small and needs what is remaining to properly defend herself from her enemies which surround her. To cede any more land would be the Nations suicide.
One last point is Israel has kept it’s word on every treaty it signed with the Paestines. It is the Palestines who have not lived up to one of its promises in any of the treaties.
Israel forewarns all of the Arabs and Palestines before they take any defensive or offensive military action in those area they reside so they have plenty of time to get out. That is much different than the terrorist palestanians who don’t mind who they kill.
I remember all the days I was stationed in Germany where we were always seemingly on the alert because of the Palestanians’ (terrorists headed by Yassar Arifat) and the Hesbollah terrorists.

Thank you for your comment and respect. However, I will disagree with you as to believe what you say is to call God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob a Liar. I will never do that as God is the same God Yesterday, today and tomorrow. He can’t lie and he sure will never break a covenant with Israel and His chosen people the Jews. The Bible says, Salvation is of the Jew. Remember, The Jews as inspired by God wrote the Bible which was transcribed from both Hebrew and Greek.
You can choose to believe what you will as there are many counterfeit churches and beliefs in todays world. God after all warned us of this in the last days. You shared my thoughts completely. He belongs to one of those new age cult theologies that teach each individual there is no God as God is in everyone. Replacement Theology is exactly what he believes. They pick and choose to believe only the lusts of their hearts.
That is why I appreciate you as a fellow Christian understanding the Bible and The Truth of God. I knew he was kinda nuts but didn’t want to expose him directly as such. Dave, I also would like to inform Harry of an important warning in scripture. It appears in both The Old testament and The New. I will quote from The New in Revelation Chp 22 vs18-19.
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, if any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy , God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city: and from the things which are written in this book.

I always enjoy debating these NEW AGE fools who have absolutely no Knowledge of the Bible or Bibical history and then wants to try and act like they are authorities of some type.. In The Bible God says in their own wisdom they have become fools.
